Proper pre-test preparation eliminates spurious laboratory readings and guarantees precision. Review our clinical guidelines before your blood sample withdrawal.

WHAT TO DO (Recommended)

Hydrate with Plain Water: Drink 1–2 glasses of water 30 minutes prior to collection to make veins prominent and collection painless.
Get 7–8 Hours of Sleep: Adequate rest stabilizes cortisol, blood pressure, and resting metabolic markers.
Wear Loose Sleeves: Wear a short-sleeved or loose shirt that can easily be rolled past your elbow.
Inform Your Phlebotomist: Mention if you have a tendency to feel faint, or if you take blood thinners or aspirin.

WHAT TO AVOID (Important)

Do NOT Consume Tea / Coffee: Even black coffee or sugarless tea stimulates stomach acid and alters liver and glucose readings.
Avoid Strenuous Morning Exercise: Heavy gym workouts cause temporary spikes in muscle enzymes (CPK) and liver markers (AST).
Do NOT Smoke or Chew Tobacco: Nicotine temporarily elevates hemoglobin and white blood cell counts.
Avoid High-Fat Dinners: Very oily dinners can induce lipemia (cloudy serum), which interferes with optical analyzers.

Fast Timing Window: For Fasting Blood Sugar and Lipid Panels, the optimal fasting window is strictly 8 to 10 hours. Fasting longer than 14 hours is counter-productive because the liver releases stored glycogen, artificially altering glucose levels.

Standard Operating Procedure: Certified clinical guidelines followed by our laboratory phlebotomy team.
